Join the #FamilyNursing #FamilyHealth Conversation on Twitter

There is a growing conversation happening on Twitter within my family nursing community by #familynursing and #familyhealth scholars, practitioners, advocates, and organizations. Here is a list of of those who are currently active on Twitter (list updated (March 2020).  I urge you to harness the power of Twitter to promote and advance #familynursing and #familyhealth.

Check out Wendy Looman’s  blog post called,“Confessions of a Reluctant Tweeter” which was subsequently published as Guest Editorial in the Journal of Family Nursing, February 2016.

In 2017, at 13th International Family Nursing Conference (#IFNC13) in Pamplona, Spain, my colleagues (Wilma Schroeder, Joel Anderson, and Wendy Looman) and I from the IFNA Communications Committee offered a Preconference Workshop titled, ” A Social Media Primer for Family Nursing Scholars”. We wore our “I Tweet #familynursing” buttons.  Twitter data from Symplur over a 15 period of June 12-25, 2017 showed 184 participants used the conference hashtag #IFNC13 and generated 1,395 tweets to create 971,439 impressions. This is evidence of significant growth in the social media use by my #familynursing and #familyhealth community.

Wendy Looman brought a new version of the button (see above) to the 14th International Family Nursing Conference (#IFNC14) August 13-16, 2019 in Washington, DC.

Reach Statistics of the International Family Nursing Association (IFNA) 2016,  IFNA 2017, and  IFNA 2018 in the form of an infographic have been developed by the IFNA Communications Committee.
